Alexander McLeod Primary School

Dyslexia Friendly Status

We are pleased to say that Alexander McLeod Primary School is officially recognised as a Dyslexia Friendly school – achieving the nationally recognised Quality Mark in 2017.

The philosophy underpinning the Quality Mark is that changing practice to accommodate dyslexic individuals, results in good inclusive practice for everyone.

In order to achieve this Quality Mark the school had to prove that we have a good knowledge of the needs of the dyslexic individual and that resources are available to meet such needs.  We feel that this is important to enable greater levels of achievement and progress for all learners.  We want all children to get the support and encouragement they need to be able to fulfil their potential.

The Dyslexia Friendly Quality Mark is an external sign of approval that is widely recognised, not only in the UK, but also internationally. This award is issued only to those organisations that have met its rigorous quality standards and demonstrates public recognition that they provide high quality education and practice for dyslexic individuals.

We are very proud of achieving this status as this lets learners, parents, staff and stakeholders know that our school is a place where there is sound provision for dyslexic individuals and inclusive teaching for all.
